Academy & Bespoke Training

We Believe technology can positively aid the design and construction processes, by making them more efficient, effective, and with lessmanual adjustments. Today's project require extensive design and documentation revisions. With the right technological solutions, the processes can become significantly more efficient. Rhino, Grasshopper, and Blender are key computational design tools that are now well established to aide design studios.

With extensive experience in design tools, UH Studio offers bespoke solutions to get you or your team ready for the next important and challenging project with Parametric Design. We frequently collaborate with other Design Teaching organisations and have led multiple bespoke workshops. Dimitar Pouchnikov AIA

Dimitar a US architect who with most of his work experience in London. His design sensibility is shaped by his experiences on both sides of the Atlantic, combining British contextual sensitivity with American pragmatism.

Dimitar is a designer and educator, having worked on large projects throughout the world, combining computational design knowledge to create architecturally significant places. In his daily practice, he explores how open-source digital tools can democratize and further advance design processes to create better environments to live, work, learn, and play. Linkedin

Design Philosophy

Dimitar is interested in design philosophy rooted at the intersection of design, a sense of place, and technology. This allows him to constantly explore experimental workflows to enable new forms of design, yet remain committed to the architectural impact. In fact, Dimitar is just as happy working through designs with pencil and sketch paper as he is designing with the latest computational tools. All tools are means to ultimately generate great, thoughtful, contextual, and considered design.

Dimitar knows fully how to deliver about on-time and on-budget highly demanding international projects projects and he always commits completely to the given project to produce the best possible outcome with the highest return on investment.

Professional Experience

Dimitar has previously worked for over 7 years as a project designer at HOK in London on leading international projects, across many typologies and frequently on projects that fall into multiple ones – mixed use, cultural, sports + entertainment, urban design, and supertall buildings. Prior to HOK, Dimitar has worked at Adjaye Associates and AHMM in London.

Teaching and presentation experience

Dimitar has been invited to sit on multiple crits in the US and the UK. Furthermore, Dimitar has held keynote presenations and multiple international events such as the Blender Conference in Amsterdam, Everything Procedural at Breda Applied Arts University in the Netherlands, BlenderFES in Japan and many others in London. He also teaches technical workshops looking at how architects can better utilise digital technology for concept design and design production. He currently focuses most on teaching through UH studio’s Youtube channel.

Dimitar also collaborates with some of the leading architectural education platforms including:
Parametric Architecture PA Academy, Futurly, MEAL liveacademy.tv, Dezact, and others.

Education

Dimitar holds a postgraduate M.Arch degree from the Architectural Association (AA School), Design Research Lab Programme (DRL) and a 5 year professional B.Arch degree from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, in Philadelphia. He has additionally been WELL AP accredited and has done numerous business and personal development workshops.

Dimitar believes that education never stops and he constantly looks for ways to improve his skills so he can deliver the best design results possible. He has completed numerous computational design workshops that allow him to work efficiently and creatively.
