Design for an Updated Kitchen and Dining Area

This interior renovation project in Denver highlights our commitment to creating harmonious and functional spaces. The project focused on opening up the kitchen and dining room areas to create a more spacious and cohesive living environment. Additionally, we worked extensively with the client to update the kitchen finishes to enhance both aesthetics and functionality.

Design

Our collaborative approach ensured that the client's needs and preferences were the focus of the creative design process. Through a series of consultations, we refined the design to achieve the perfect balance between style and practicality. The use of photorealistic images and VR technology allowed the client to experience the renovated space virtually, making the decision process more interactive and informed while truly "feeling" what it is like inside of the renovated space.

Finishes

Here is an example kitchen finish study that allows the client to precisely understand what each material looks like in a cohesive composition

From the client:

"We commissioned Dimitar to help us re-design our kitchen and dining space in a recently built home in Denver, Colorado. The space was divided, and we wanted an open feel for entertaining larger groups and creating free flow in the dining, kitchen and living area.

We knew we wanted a European design approach that would be clean but not cold, simple yet interesting, high-quality finishes but cool rather than stiff and formal. We had to select woods, paint colors, counters and other details.

We sent Dimitar photographs and dimensioned drawings. We explained our goals and discussed various options. He contributed his experience and recommendations, but without any of the egocentric pushiness of so many top architects. After narrowing the options, he got to work.

He turned the ideas and photos into photo-realistic renderings that enabled us to look at multiple versions of the space. Beyond photo-realistic renderings, he provided 3D Oculus images so we could see exquisitely accurate virtual reality versions of the space. We could literally immerse ourselves in the space and experience the various options. Should we have light counters and darker wood? What type of wood is ideal – walnut or maple? Should the counters be light, medium or darker? Do the steel beams look best in black, grey, yellow, blue? Could we embrace the urban feel of our neighborhood and make a bold statement with industrial red beams?

The local builder offered the services of a local interior designer. When we showed them Dimitar’s renderings, their jaws dropped and they said, “Case closed. You’ve got your look! No need for further interior design.”

The renderings allowed us to finalize choices in a far more informed way than simply looking at material samples and trying to imagine the result. The decision process was quicker, more accurate, and we avoided trial and error on the site, rework, or regrets.

Now that the project is complete, it’s possible to go back and compare photographs to Dimitar’s renderings. The images speak for themselves.

Dimitar combines architectural and computer skills to offer innovative approaches to projects. If you’re doing a new design or a renovation, regardless of where you are in the world, I highly recommend exploring how you can work with him. Even if you have a local architect, builder or contractor, having Dimitar on your team gives you a creative partner to explore your dream solution.
