A sanctuary on top of the mountains
Winter House
The idea stems from the typical S shape elevation, growing from the floor, looping on one side into the ceiling, and looping again into the upper floor roof. Then, the question is how can the S shape evolve to create openings, become a terrace, and enclose the top effectively by providing as much enclosed area as possible.
While working on it, it felt quite symmetrical, so a sculptural hanging stair to the upper floor complements the symmetry of the house.
Going for a classic look, the interiors are a modern black and white.
